Sampson, who led his high school team to three state championships, went on to the University of Virginia, achieving a 123-22 record, a championship, and three National Player of the Year titles. Drafted first overall by the Houston Rockets, he averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds as a rookie, winning NBA Rookie of the Year and earning five All-Star selections. He also played for the Warriors and Kings, and is inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Lamont Goins, a highly respected Director of Basketball Operations, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and has over 20 years of logistical experience. He developed and implemented the ACTSports basketball program in Staunton, VA, managing 13 youth teams and a travel AAU division, and coached at Union Pines High School for over 5 years. A former student assistant under Coach Jeff Capel, Sr., at Pinecrest High School, Goins also co-hosts “The G.Q. Coaches Show” podcast, featured on ESPN radio and other platforms.
As an American professional basketball player, Robert graduated from Bullis High School in Maryland where as a senior he won a state championship. After High School Robert attend East Carolina and in his junior year he transferred to Georgia Tech where he graduated. After graduation and still today Robert have found a home play professional basketball overseas in Japan.
Ralph Sampson III attended Northview High School in John Creek, Georgia. As a senior, he averaged 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game in leading Northview to its first state tournament appearance and a 21-9 record.
After High School Ralph III attended the University Minnesota started every Big Ten Conference game, helping the Gophers earn an NCAA tournament bid, and finished second on the team in both rebounds and blocked shots per game. Sampson started at forward and center in his sophomore and junior seasons for the Gophers and saw his minutes, points, and blocks per game increase each year.
